WEST NEWBURY — Water board appoints Janes chair, sets June 15 rate hearing. The three-member Board of Water Commissioners unanimously appointed Robert Janes as Chairperson and voted unanimously to hold a public hearing on June 15 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Town Hall Annex for review of proposed water rate increases taking effect in fiscal 2027's first billing cycle. The decisions followed discussion of town dissatisfaction, with John Haley volunteering to serve as intermediary to strengthen the board's working relationship with the Select Board.
Water Superintendent Mark Marlowe and Haley also agreed to initiate a review of Administrative Assistant Jodi Bertrand's job classification.
