West Newbury climate panel maps out forest management and river resilience partnerships. Chair Elizabeth Callahan led the committee through discussion of potential collaboration with the West Newbury Tree Committee to develop a climate-focused forest management plan, noting the town owns over 1,000 acres of forested land. The committee awaits a decision from the Northeast Regional Ocean Council on living shoreline training participation, with no new date announced.
Members were asked to review the updated Open Space Plan for collaboration opportunities. Callahan is preparing a presentation, "Pursuing a More Resilient River Road and Merrimack River Shoreline," for the Merrimack River Roundtable.
