Conservation Commission approves dead ash tree removal at River Road

West Newbury Conservation Commission unanimously approves removal of 24 dead ash trees. The Commission approved removal from 151 River Road, with applicant Scott Overbeck reporting fallen limbs have damaged structures. The approval mandates heavy equipment remain on the driveway, 10-foot snags be left as wildlife habitat where feasible, and all debris removed.
Conservation Agent Dan Callahan will oversee the work. Six other applications were continued to June 15, including Certificates of Compliance for 9 Marshall Drive and 7 Garden Street, and an Abbreviated Notice of Resource Area Delineation for 187 Main Street, where a contracted peer reviewer will examine the wetland boundary on June 9.
