Finance Committee approves five warrant articles, withdraws two equipment requests

Finance Committee · Meeting of March 4, 2026

WEST NEWBURY — Finance Committee unanimously backs five warrant articles for spring Town Meeting. Chair Dennis LaMalfa and members Brian Flynn, Gary Roberts, and Jim Sperelakis voted 4-0 to advance proposals for a compact excavator, Page School window replacement, a DPW equipment trailer, unpaid bills, and extended sunset dates on prior articles. The Select Board withdrew two proposed equipment purchases — SCBA gear and a Fire off-road vehicle — with the SCBA equipment to be pursued through grant funding.

The Library's FY27 budget reflects a $20,000 salary increase for converting a part-time position to full-time, aligning with state library commissioners guidelines; the committee approved the consolidated capital budget approach for Town Meeting presentation.
