Parks and Recreation Commission approves summer budget and pickleball policy.

Parks & Recreation Commission · Meeting of March 30, 2026

WEST NEWBURY — The Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously approved a summer recreation budget of $30,430 and adopted pickleball court usage rules during its March 30 meeting. Chair Douglas Mead and members Casey Fallon and Wendy Willis also authorized a $3,000 transfer from the Parks and Recreation revolving fund to cover part-time employee wages after the FY27 operating budget was reduced to $4,500. The pickleball court, scheduled for mid-to-late June completion, will offer first-come, first-serve play with town-resident reservations taking precedence via myRec.

A field-use policy revision regarding West Newbury Youth League baseball was deferred pending a summer coordination meeting between Mead and the league's new president to resolve March scheduling conflicts.
