Select Board approves cannabis prohibition ballot question and organizational consultant.
Select Board · Meeting of March 19, 2026
WEST NEWBURY — The Select Board unanimously approved adding a cannabis prohibition ballot question to the May 4 election, requiring both a Town Meeting vote and voter approval because a 2016 town vote had legalized cannabis. Chair Wendy Reed explained that the earlier legalization measure did not clearly convey that zoning changes would be necessary to restrict commercial uses. The Board also unanimously approved Community Paradigm Associates as consultant for an organizational assessment of town operations, and approved a Special Event Permit for the Friends of the G.A.R Memorial Library Spring Book Sale on March 26 through 29 at Town Hall.
