Select Board · Meeting of March 27, 2026
WEST NEWBURY — Select Board approves revised FY27 budget for Finance Committee review. Chair Wendy Reed and Member Christopher Wile, in a two-hour line-by-line workshop, voted unanimously to refer the amended budget after trimming Police Overtime to $120,000 (from $185,769), annualizing Police and Fire Expenses downward, cutting Assessors' travel costs by $3,500, and delaying the new Human Resources Manager hire from immediate to September 1st to await completion of an Organizational Assessment. The Board also increased the non-Union COLA to 3.0 percent and reduced Library materials spending by $24,371 using state-allowable waivers and incentive grant funds.
The revised budget maintains the Select Board's 2.5 percent non-schools increase target and now goes to the Finance Committee for its April 1 meeting.
