West Newbury Select Board approves Police Chief contract through May 2029. The board unanimously executed the contract along with approvals for two special events: the Handtub Muster on July 18 and a congregation gathering and BBQ by Unity on the River on August 9. Chair Wendy Reed's board reappointed 12 individuals to town boards and committees for FY27 by a 2-0-1 vote, with member Christopher Wile abstaining.
The board unanimously endorsed MEVA bus stop signage locations on Main Street, including an additional stop between Page School and the Newburyport line. Town Manager Angus Jennings reported that Town Treasurer and Collector Kaitlin Gilbert is leaving July 16, with interviews for her replacement starting June 29, and that the State has accepted Whittier Tech's application to enter the Feasibility Study stage.
