Select Board · Meeting of March 4, 2026

West Newbury Select Board and Finance Committee approved $236,301 in spring Town Meeting capital articles while withdrawing a proposed increase in town contributions to retiree health insurance. Christopher Wile moved approval of five articles: a $100,000 compact excavator for Highway Department drainage work, a $35,000 zero-turn mower to replace a 12-year-old model, a $50,000 Page School window replacement project, a $50,000 DPW heavy equipment trailer, and $1,301.25 to cover delayed 2024 police detail billing. The boards also removed a Water and DPW garage repair article from the warrant after Board of Water Commissioners raised concerns about cost-sharing and lack of prior consultation.

Town Manager Angus Jennings reported that Pentucket School Committee voted a $825,000 budget reduction in its proposed FY27 assessment.
