WEST NEWBURY — Town Governance Committee directs consultant materials to its website rather than Select Board. Chair Wendy Reed will work with the Town Manager's Executive Assistant to update the Committee's webpage and post a Massachusetts Municipal Association video addressing confusion between Town Manager and Town Administrator roles. Members reported that community feedback most frequently raised questions about the Select Board's executive duties versus the Town Manager's operational role, with some residents favoring a Town Administrator structure instead.
The Committee also discussed recruiting younger volunteers to fill board vacancies, noting that meeting length and family demands have discouraged younger residents from service.
