WEST NEWBURY — Tree Committee finalizes Arbor Day event and expansion plans. The committee confirmed that April 25 Arbor Day materials are ready, with seedlings arriving Monday for potting, and a sapling delivery set for April 29 afternoon involving 48 trees purchased by residents — a jump from 34 last year. Committee member Fred Chanania will retrieve seedlings from New Hampshire and recruit members using a new poster.
The committee requested Select Board approval to restore membership to five members and two associates to ensure adequate quorum. The committee also noted that the Select Board's centralized control of professional memberships and training costs across all town committees may limit FY27 funding for those expenses.
