Water Board approves Groveland water agreement

Board of Water Commissioners · Meeting of January 20, 2026

WEST NEWBURY — Water board unanimously backs Groveland inter-municipal agreement. The Board of Water Commissioners voted January 20 to approve a draft inter-municipal memo with Groveland Water, with Chair Robert Janes presiding and members John Haley and Mark Hemingway present. The unanimous vote noted a discrepancy: a proposed gallons-per-day increase from 175,000 to 200,000 was not reflected in the draft, which officials said was intended as internal-use documentation.

Water Superintendent Mark Marlowe will speak with Groveland Water regarding a formal replacement agreement. The board also discussed FY 2027 budget options, including potential water rate increases and a cell tower RFP at Brake Hill Water Tank.
