Water board plans rate hearing, holds fire charge flat
Board of Water Commissioners · Meeting of April 7, 2026
WEST NEWBURY — Board of Water Commissioners plans May rate hearing following Select Board freeze on fire charges. Chair Jack Haley recommended scheduling the public hearing for late May or early June to be held after the April 27 Spring Town Meeting. The Select Board directed the water board to hold the fire protection charge flat for fiscal 2027, though ratepayers benefit from $625,000 in ARPA funding allocated to the Church and Prospect Street infrastructure project.
Superintendent Mark Marlowe is investigating land ownership of nine parcels surrounding Brake Hill Tank to establish revenue sharing with Verizon for improved cellular coverage at town schools.
