Board of Health backs G. Mello solid waste bid

Board of Health · Meeting of March 10, 2026

WEST NEWBURY — Board of Health recommends G. Mello for solid waste contract. The board voted unanimously to endorse G.

Mello's $344,796 FY27 proposal against Casella's $483,388 bid, saving $138,592 annually. Health Agent Paul Sevigny emphasized that G. Mello's $98 per ton tipping fee stays below $105 through FY30.

An advisory group including a Board of Health member, Health Department staff, and a Select Board member will finalize the contract decision. The board also approved a new seasonal boat shrink wrap recycling service at Pipestave Hill, available mid-April through May at $250 for hauling plus $100 per ton.
