WEST NEWBURY — Board of Water Commissioners defers abatement decision to July 28 meeting. Robert Janes, Chair, and John Haley expressed divergent views on a water bill dispute from 6 Pleasant Street, with Haley arguing against the abatement and Janes favoring standard calculation methodology, but the board withheld a vote until absent member Mark Hemingway can attend. Water Superintendent Mark Marlowe reported that DeFelice has completed Church Street paving repairs and Tighe & Bond Rate Study contracts are awaiting final approval.
The board also discussed Newburyport's approval of FY2027 rate increases and plans to assess budget impact once July billing arrives.
