Historical Commission elects Janes chair, Grammer clerk for fiscal 2027.
Historical Commission · Meeting of July 9, 2026
WEST NEWBURY — Historical Commission organizes for fiscal year 2027 with Robert Janes as chair and Elisa Grammer as clerk, both elected unanimously. Janes will represent the Commission at the Community Preservation Committee. The board heard an update on its historic plaque program, which has received nine to ten applications and is generating overwhelming homeowner enthusiasm.
Jennifer L. Munson reported she is responding to applicants same-day and coordinating with David Danis on historical research and plaque design. The Commission also flagged concern about the proposed Main Street and Route 113 corridor project, noting that traffic engineers are proposing alterations to Town Hall's facade and removal of a historic marker honoring Julian Steele without addressing historic preservation issues.
