West Newbury's Historical Commission announced Oct. 23 a new profile of the Thomas and Sarah Huse House at 820 Main Street, the latest in its series of in-depth antique home histories.

According to the profile, Thomas Huse, who grew up in the neighboring Bolton-Huse House, built the home with his fiancee Sarah Moody the year after he joined the militiamen who marched from the Training Field upon learning of the fight at Lexington and Concord. The house dates to 1776.

The commission said the property and its owners also had notable ties to the Moody-Ridgway house across the street. The profile describes the home's architectural features as reflecting its construction in that period.

Residents can view a detailed, illustrated profile of the Thomas and Sarah Huse House and a Historic Sites Survey for the property, both posted by the commission.
