West Newbury seeks volunteer for Parks & Recreation vacancy
West Newbury is accepting applications through Nov. 20 to fill a vacancy on the Parks & Recreation Commission created by a member's resignation, with the appointee serving until the May 2027 town election.
The Town of West Newbury announced Oct. 21 that it is seeking residents to fill a vacancy on the Parks & Recreation Commission.
The Commission is an elected board that currently has one open seat due to a member's resignation. The board supports the town's parks, recreational programs and community spaces.
Under Massachusetts General Laws, vacancies on elected boards can be filled through a joint appointment process between the remaining Commission members and the Select Board. The person appointed would serve until the next Annual Town Election in May 2027.
The Commission is accepting applications from interested residents through Nov. 20, 2026. Residents can apply through [the town's online Volunteer Opportunities page](Apply Online, Volunteer Opportunities) or in person at the Town Clerk's Office. Additional information is available from the Town Clerk's Office.
