The Town of West Newbury announced Oct. 23 that Select Board member Chris Wile has resigned.

In a statement included with the announcement, Wile said he made "the very difficult decision to step away from town government" to pursue "other adventures and opportunities." He thanked residents and colleagues, including Interim Town Manager Sean Fitzgerald, Select Board member Barry Fogel and Select Board Chair Wendy Reed.

"West Newbury is at a crossroad, and I am excited to see the Town continue to focus on building a brighter future," Wile said in the statement.

The town described Wile's time on the board as marked by his commitment to public service and his work on local issues and regional initiatives, including his role representing the town on the Whittier Tech Regional Agreement Advisory Committee. The town said it is grateful for his service and wished him and his family well in what it called his next chapter.
