Board of Water Commissioners continues rate hearing to June 17
Board of Water Commissioners · Meeting of June 15, 2026
WEST NEWBURY — The West Newbury Board of Water Commissioners opened a public hearing on a proposed water rate increase, effective October 1, 2026, with the final vote continued to June 17. Chair Robert Janes and members John Haley and Mark Hemingway heard questions from Town Manager Angus Jennings, Select Board Chair Wendy Reed, and board members Chris Wile and Barry Fogel regarding conservation rates, current water debt levels, and retained earnings. The rate proposal, the first adjustment since 2024, is designed to support operational costs, necessary repairs, and capital improvements to the town's water supply system.
The board will reconvene June 17 at 3:00 p.m. in the second-floor hearing room to complete discussion and vote.
